Helpful Tips
Here are some tips to make your trip enjoyable.

  • Pack lightly
  • Learn as much of the Thai language. It will be beneficial in the long run.
  • Bring a camera...photo ops during the trip are the BEST, so be sure to bring lots and lots of film (20 or more rolls) and extra batteries.
  • Woman: When you get to Thailand stock up on the toilet paper and never leave home without it!!!
  • Bring stuff like key chains or T-shirts to give away to the people you meet.
  • Pepto of Imodium, preferably tablets (trust us you'll need it sooner or later).
  • If you like to go out at night to discos and nightclubs then be sure to pack a pair of "clubbing" clothes.
  • Save money to travel to other countries after the program is over. Backpacking along the country side is the best way to see the country and it's well worth saving a little extra money.
  • Smile, be willing to try new food and have a good attitude.

What to Read Before Going.
Before arriving in Thailand make sure to read up on the culture, country, customs, and history of Thailand. Many in our group brought copies of The Lonely Planet guide book that came in handy. A good book to read about the history of Thailand is David K. Wyatt's Thailand, A Short History. Its is easy to read and a great help when visiting so many historical sites as we did.
